Twenty Year Medal Table for Race Walking

Summer Olympic Games 1996 – 2012

Spartanie dzieciom i Robert Korzeniowski (8742135640)

All four of Poland’s gold medals are down to Robert Korzeniowski, who won the 50km title for three Games in a row, and completed a race walking double in 2000. He would lead the table on his own were it not for Russia. Russia has lost several medals due to doping offences, and probably should have lost more, so he may well deserve top spot.

Like at the World Athletics Championships, many locations at altitude in Latin America have had disproportionate success, including Ecuador, Mexico and Guatemala. And also from the high mountains, China’s tally includes the only Olympic medallist from Tibet.

This table includes medals reallocated as a result of disqualifications. It does not take into account disqualifications where medals have yet to be reallocated, nor the results of retests of 2008 and 2012 samples, where disqualifications have yet to be confirmed.
